Erwin Van Beek, one of our top trainers from Europe is in town to consult on a new program management project. Mr. Van Beek will be assessing our current program and contrasting it with research done at the national level in Holland. Mr. Van Beek, along with his associate Wytse Dijkstra, were responsible for bringing the S.P.E.A.R. System to Holland four years ago and integrating it at the national level. Currently, their DT and SWAT training includes S.P.E.A.R. System research and drills. Erwin will use his knowledge of lesson plan creation, programatics and advanced leadership and education training to help take the S.P.E.A.R. System to the next level.

Specific goals include:

  • Help generate SPEAR 3.0
  • Assist with the mobile training team responsibilities
  • Expand our in-house curriculum to support on-going education for defensive tactics, combatives & S.P.EA.R. coaches world-wide at BTS HQ in Virgina Beach, Va.

Mr. Van Beek served in the Dutch army where he also had duties as a DT, combatives and Firearms instructor. Always interested in police work, he took a position with the military police as a DT and Firearm instructor and then pursued his Police diploma. He is currently one of the top instructors in Holland and teaches to counter-terrorism, military special forces, SWAT, firearms and defensive tactics instructors at their national academy. He is also a graduate of the Sports Academy of the Netherlands, where he earned his Academic degree for physical training and education.

In 1997, Mr. Van Beek started studying Mr. Blauer’s research and system by video. He began integrating the scenario drills and close-quarter tactics into his personal training and at the academy. In 2004, he traveled to the USA to earn certification in the S.P.E.A.R. System and officially bring the system back to Holland. Shortly after returning, he helped organize a national training symposium for military, SWAT, DT & firearms instructors and brought Mr. Blauer overseas for a week-long series of briefs, demos and drills on the S.P.E.A.R. System.

Since 2005 Erwin has traveled many times to the USA and the UK to attend advanced & instructor courses in the S.P.E.A.R. System, that include HIGH GEAR Simulation System Instructor & Ballistic Micro-Fight Instructor, S.P.E.A.R. System Applications for the Gunfight, S.P.E.A.R. System Operator Course, Personal Defense Readiness Coach and S.P.E.A.R. System Ground Combatives. Currently Mr. Van Beek is one of our lead trainers in Europe and assists with our mobile training team abroad.
